Vincentian Poverty Studies Minor

statue of st vincent de paul with two studentsInspired by the vision of Vincent de Paul, the patron saint of charity, Niagara University is committed to addressing poverty through scholarship, community engagement, and education. This commitment is reflected throughout the University—in the research of our faculty, through community service, and especially in the classroom.

Academically, Niagara University is unique in standing as one of only a few universities throughout the country to offer students a minor in Poverty Studies. The Vincentian Poverty Studies Minor is open to students in all disciplines and encourages thoughtful, interdisciplinary exploration of the causes, experiences, and consequences of poverty. Rooted in the Vincentian tradition of service and social responsibility, the minor invites students to consider how their education, chosen fields, and future professions can contribute to addressing poverty and promoting human dignity.
