The Great Guatemalan Adventure is an eight-day backpacking odyssey offered by Campus Ministry and led by Dr. Joe Little of the Department of English. Each year over spring break, a dozen NU students hike volcanoes and mountains in the western Guatemalan highlands, explore remote Mayan villages, and meet with community leaders dedicated to the alleviation of poverty among some of Guatemala’s most vulnerable populations. The trip may be taken as a stand-alone adventure or as an experiential component associated with Dr. Little’s English 348, Ethnography and Travel Writing. For more information, see the trip website.
